i met suki when i started attending method workshops

at the ensemble theatre in milsons point...sydney

she was starring in a local tv production called riptide

and was living in a cottage on the banks of pittwater

surrounded by national park and accessible only by water

we became close very quickly and she invited me to visit

get the ferry at church point she said...

after an hour and a half on the bus i finally arrived at church point

there was a huge southerly blowing...drenching horizontal rain

and i was soaked by the time i found the ferry wharf..

there the ferryman took pity on me and took me into his hut...

plonked me down in front of the fire and gave rum and hot milk...

this i thought is the real australia

i was shattered a few years later to find out

from the front page of the tabloids

that she had taken her own life

whilst i had been off in the woods with the hippies

she had joined the cast of hair....

and after blowing her mind with acid

found it all too much
